MobileVMS app for iPhone and iPad

MobileVMS uses a mobile device such as an iPhone or iPad to provide a Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) for small, inshore fishing vessels.

Coordinates are transmitted back to a VMS server and from there are made available to authorised users.

This app has been developed in conjunction with members of the New Zealand seafood industry to allow tracking of fishing activities in support of sustainable fisheries. It is to operate in areas of cellular or WiFi coverage and builds on existing fish receiving and documentation processes.

It is expressly not provided for the purposes of safety or search and rescue.

This version of the app is specifically provided for participants in west coast North Island harbour fisheries who have entered into an Electronic Monitoring Services Agreement with Trident Systems. It is designed to assist fishers and Licensed Fish Receivers to meet their obligations under the Māui dolphin protection plan.
